15 spams per day but not to MY address. How can they get into my mail and why are they all dated 19 Jan 2038!!

I understand about finding or buying my address for advertising wares and services. I do not understand why Yahoo puts mail in my bulk folder which has "to ............" an address NOTHING LIKE mine. They all have very different "from"s and all have exactly the same date and time: 19 Jan 2038; 03.14.07 GMT.(!) Yahoo is taking someone's 1 click distribution to randomly- generated addresses and putting them into my folder.

I thought the date and time was a genuine indication of the time a mail was sent. How does a sender tamper with the message to this extent?

I KNOW they are in "bulk" but so are several that I need so I do have to check the folder every day. It's not only annoying but also rather sinister and I think I'll have to leave Yahoo.

According to the anti-spam experts, we are seeing far more spam mails now than ever before. And the spammers have become more clever about defeating the spam filters. That's why more spam is making it to the Inbox instead of going straight to the Bulk folder. There are a few basic things we can all do to keep spam to a minimum...
1. Spam mails that go straight to Bulk should be left there. You can empty the Bulk folder any time you want, but never NEVER open spam mails.
2. Spam mails that land in your Inbox should be marked as Spam so that they are moved to Bulk and placed on the Blocked list. (Blocking an address prevents mails from being received from that address.)
3. Any email that you are the least bit suspicious about should be deleted immediately. Don't let curiosity get the better of you. Simply by opening a spam email, you could be alerting the spammers that you have an active email address (they probably didn't know it before), to which they will most certainly send TONS of spam mail in the future.

Contrary to what you might read or hear, spammers DON'T get your email address off some list that has been bought and sold many times over or from web sites that you've visited recently. Today's spammers generate their own lists by computer, creating very long lists of sequential addresses (such as aaaa@, aaab@, aaac@, aaad@, etc), sometimes several million addresses long. They know that in those millions of addresses, some of them have to be real addresses. They are hoping you will open their mails, which will alert them that you do in fact have an active address. They then compile their own lists of active addresses that they can FLOOD with more spam emails.
