I owe a med collection agency. I am trying to find out if the statue has run out?

I live in Mississippi. Should they remove old paid items if the statue has run out. I thought I saw somewhere that it is 3 years for open accounts.I dont know if its a domestic judgement or what. The domestic is 7 years. Also if I am trying to pay an old collection account and the people in the office cant figure out which attorney has my file for me to pay. I called 5 times. Could I dispute that and have it removed. Since they don't even know who I should pay.

This is an online stie that can help you find out just what the exact statutes of each state are. Be very aware however that even though it might have been 7-10 years that something has been on your credit. There are ways now that it can remain on your credit depending on the legal steps that has been taken. If it is something that you can prove has been paid you must first notfiy the agency then go to the bureaus once this is done. If you can prove it paid dont let it sit on your credit, it will jsut cause more issues in the long run.
